We had a really busy day on Wednesday and really didn’t want to cook at home so Gladys and I decided to go into to Bury St Edmunds for a bite to eat. After receiving our regular email offer from Prezzo this week, it was 2 mains for the price of 1 which is one of their most generous offers. We decided to go into to town about 5.45pm, it’s a great time to eat you don’t have to book but there are enough people in the restaurant to give it a little atmosphere.
The waitresses and waiters are always very attentive “mind the step” as they move you to the same seat that we always seem to get at this time of night. The 2 for 1 offer is based on knocking lowest price choice off of the bill so it does encourage you to go for the more expensive choice. We do not have a starter or any side dishes, but we always have a drink. This is where I do find it a little bit more expensive with the cheapest bottle of wine at £14.50 or half of Aspals £4.00 and a half bottle of Peroni Gran Reserva £4.80
The menu isn’t extensive and they do change from season to season. There is a great choice of Pizzas and a smaller selection of Pasta dishes.
I normally have the Spicy Carne Calzone with delicious seasoned chicken, meatballs, mushrooms and crushed chillies with bolognese sauce and a blend of cheese. Its’ a real head turner as it arrives on your plate and I always add some chilli oil to give it an extra kick.
This time however we both had a change Gladys went for SPAGHETTI WITH KING PRAWNS with spinach, red onion, red chilli and garlic in a pomodoro sauce on the menu at £12.30 and I went for the CHICKEN CARBONARA AL FORNO seasoned chicken, pancetta and spaghetti in a carbonara sauce at £11.95.
Mine was great I really enjoyed it but Gladys was a little disappointed not enough prawns and the pomodoro sauce a little wishy washy.
However she was not disappointed enough not to return again in the very near future.
We rarely have a sweet and last night was no exception although I did have another Gran Reserva.
After giving the waitress our specially downloaded discount code the bill was £25.90 and we got home before the end of the One Show. It’s really good value, genuinely nice food and always good service
